The annual Live Your Dash 8K starts at 8am on the morning of our wedding and is in memory of Rebecca's brother George Parrish and fellow Edentonian and family friend Alex Boehling. It is a beautiful course that takes you through Edenton's Historic Hayes Plantation. Normally, Chris rides the course in a golf cart with Rebecca's father; however, since this is a special weekend, Chris will actually exert some energy by walking. Not in race shape? Don't worry, you can walk or run as much of the course as you like! Be advised that the course is mostly off-road on grass and dirt (with occasional mud). Also, the weather can be a bit chilly and breezy, so please be prepared. After the race, there will be a party at a nearby home with live music and BBQ! We will still have a few hours for R&R after the BBQ and before the wedding.
If you are interested in participating, let us know or simply register here. We would love to have you join us!
Edenton is a small yet charming town located directly on Edenton Bay and the Albemarle Sound. Rebecca grew up in the downtown area where the wedding events and 8K run will be held. The downtown area features great colonial homes, beautiful views, and a variety of small shops and restaurants along the main drag, Broad Street. For more on things to see and do, check this out.
Edenton, NC, is about 1.5 hours from the Outer Banks (OBX). OBX is home to Kitty Hawk, where the Wright Brothers first took flight, as well as great beaches, bars, museums, and lighthouses, which you can climb to the top for some great views. Edenton is about 2.5 hours from UNC-Chapel Hill (Rebecca's alma mater) and Duke University (Rebecca's basketball nemesis), among other attractions in the famed Research Triangle.
